The Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP) has officially approved the use of nitrogen data for Level 4 and Level 5 pneumatics reporting — a major step forward that makes high-quality, measurement-informed reporting easier than ever for operators using Kathairos.
Pneumatic controllers and pumps are among the largest sources of methane emissions in oil and gas, but their small, intermittent vent volumes make traditional measurement (via OGI cameras) tedious and inaccurate. Kathairos solves this by replacing methane with nitrogen to power pneumatic devices. Because it's a closed-loop system with hourly level sensor readings, every volume of nitrogen consumed corresponds directly to methane that would have been vented — providing continuous, real-time vent rate data.
Operators can apply per-device vent rates measured at nitrogen-powered sites across their remaining natural-gas-driven pneumatics, enabling accurate reporting across all assets. The result is a dual benefit: eliminating methane emissions while making OGMP reporting simpler, faster, and more reliable.
