Alberta's Methane Reduction Deployment Program (MRDP) just got significantly more valuable for producers. Emissions Reduction Alberta is offering up to $2M per company toward methane mitigation projects — including nitrogen-based pneumatic conversions — ahead of Canada's 2030 methane regulations.
What's new: as of August 13, 2026, ERA reversed its original rule and now allows companies to stack MRDP funding with carbon offsets. Previously, producers had to choose between the 50% cost subsidy or generating offsets. Now they can do both — meaning early movers can capture ERA dollars and generate up to 10 years of TIER offsets from the same project, just as a $60/tCO2e price floor arrives in 2030.
Funding remains first-come, first-served, so producers evaluating pneumatic retrofits have a real incentive to act now, before the pool runs out.
Kathairos offers full-service support for both the MRDP application and offset management, helping producers move quickly and maximize the return on every site converted.
