Big news for Alberta methane reduction: Minister Grant Hunter has announced an additional $19.4 million in funding for Emissions Reduction Alberta's Methane Reduction Deployment Program (MRDP), nearly doubling the $22.4M originally committed last fall.
The new investment, delivered through the federal Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund (LCELF) and the Government of Alberta's TIER system, expands the program's reach — supporting more projects, accelerating deployment, and delivering greater impact sector-wide. ERA will now cover 50% of eligible project costs up to $2 million per parent company (up from $1M).
