We recently sat down with our partner Kimray, a longtime leader in pneumatic valve technology, to talk about emissions, reliability, and the growing role of zero-emission solutions in oil and gas operations.

From field performance to long-term sustainability, Kimray shared insights on why pairing their durable pneumatics with Kathairos nitrogen systems is helping operators meet both their environmental and operational goals.

When evaluating pneumatic venting options, what factors matter most for Kimray in aligning and supporting customers with their emissions goals and operational standards?

Reliability and emissions are both significant factors when helping our customers evaluate pneumatic venting options. The advantage of partnering Kimray products with Kathairos nitrogen is that you get the best of both worlds — a zero-emission solution that enhances operational reliability.

Kimray products are known for their reliability. How does your commitment to durability influence your customers' approach to pneumatic power sources in the field?

With Kimray being a pneumatics leader since 1948, our customers know and expect our products to be reliable. But another critical piece of the process is a reliable pneumatic supply source. When using Kathairos solutions to power Kimray products, operators know they have a durable and efficient process from end-to-end.

How does using dry, inert nitrogen contribute to cleaner operations, fewer emissions, and valve longevity?

Using Kathairos nitrogen as a supply source keeps the critical components of Kimray regulators clean and operating smoothly. This translates to optimal functionality, fewer repairs, and less downtime.

Have you seen notable performance differences in the field when operators use zero-emission power sources like nitrogen with your valves?

Absolutely. Dirty supply gas can hinder regulator performance, so nitrogen has the double bonus of being zero-emission and increasing operational efficiency.

What gives you confidence when recommending a zero-vent solution that uses your valve technology in critical applications?

When using Kathairos to power Kimray products, it’s a simple, scalable, and precise solution for actuating pneumatics across the wellsite. In short, operators can count on it to be there when they need it, even when using nitrogen as a backup supply source.

Do you see liquid nitrogen as a sustainable and valuable zero-emissions solution for powering pneumatics?

Yes! Nitrogen, being one of the most abundant resources on earth, is a cost-effective and sustainable power source for energizing pneumatic regulators and valves.

Does use of nitrogen as an outside supply source improve the operation and performance of pneumatically actuated devices compared to other sources of supplied pressure?

Yes, definitely. Nitrogen is the cleanest, driest supply that operators can use in the oilfield and can therefore increase the reliability of operations.

What are some situations or environments where the utilization of nitrogen in pneumatic devices has proven to outperform other sources of supply pressure?

There are several instances where Kathairos can provide an added benefit in the operation of our products. In applications where low temperatures can freeze moisture in the pneumatic supply, for example, nitrogen outperforms natural gas and compressed air as a reliable source.
